Installing Prologue

A Become a Legend companion for Football Life 2026 · version 0.6.8

Prologue runs in its own window next to Football Life. It reads your Become a Legend save and tells the career around it: the manager and the dressing room, your agent, the inbox, the press, sponsors, the national team, the world rankings, and every honour and trophy your player wins. You keep playing Football Life exactly as you always have.

This guide takes about five minutes. You do not need to know anything technical.

1. Before you start

Check you have all of these:

Football Life 2026, version 1.4, installed and working.
Sider set up, and you start the game through it.
A Become a Legend career, or you are about to start one.
A Windows 10 or 11 PC.

You do not need Touchline. Prologue carries everything it needs to read your save. If you also use Touchline, they sit side by side in your Sider folder and Prologue uses Touchline's player names to name your teammates.

Using a different version of Football Life? Prologue still works from your save. The two live features — attribute boosts from training, sponsors and honours, and reading your OVR — only switch on for version 1.4.

2. Install Prologue

Unzip the download

Find Prologue-0.6.8.zip. Right-click it, choose Extract All…, then Extract, and open the folder that appears. Do not run anything from inside the zip itself.

Run PrologueSetup.exe

Double-click PrologueSetup.exe.

Seeing “Windows protected your PC”? That appears for new programs that have not paid for a Microsoft signing certificate, which small community mods usually have not. Click More info, then Run anyway. If your antivirus stops it, it is usually for the same reason; you can check the file matches the fingerprint in SHA256SUMS.txt first.

Choose your Sider folder

Setup usually finds it on its own. It is the folder that contains sider.exe. If the box is empty or wrong, click Browse…, pick that folder, then Review.

Read what it will do, then Install

Setup lists every change before it makes any. It will:

add a PrologueCompanion folder with the Prologue program
create content\prologue, where your careers are kept

That is all. Prologue adds no Sider scripts, never edits sider.ini, never deletes anything, and never touches a career you already have.

If Windows says setup is not allowed to write to the folder, right-click PrologueSetup.exe, choose Run as administrator, and try again.

3. Open it for the first time

Start Football Life and save your career

Start the game through Sider, begin or load your Become a Legend career, and save it once. Prologue reads your saved game.

Open Prologue

In your Sider folder, open PrologueCompanion and double-click Prologue.exe. Right-click it and choose Send to → Desktop (create shortcut) to keep it one click away.

If Windows asks “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”, your game is running as administrator and Prologue needs the same level to read it. Yes switches on attribute boosts and OVR; No is fine too, and everything else still works from your save.

Create your legend

Prologue asks who your player is — name, age, nationality, position, background, family and ambitions — and connects to your Become a Legend save. From then on it follows every save you make.

4. Using it every day

Start Football Life through Sider, as always.
Open Prologue.
Play. Save in the game after matches; Prologue updates from your saves. If it ever looks behind, press REFRESH.

My Career shows what happened; the Inbox has messages from your manager, agent, teammates, family and coaches; Decisions has the choices waiting for you; the World page has the club and national rankings and the game's own individual awards.

Two things worth setting once

Open ⚙ settings, at the top right.

Club crests. Press READ CRESTS FROM THE GAME and Prologue fills its crest folder from your own Football Life installation, a few hundred clubs and national teams in about a second. Nothing is downloaded. Until you do, clubs are drawn as a shield with their initials. Your own square PNGs in that folder always win, and the folder is shared with Touchline, so a crest imported in either app shows in both.
Injuries. Choose none, minimum or realistic for the knocks Prologue invents between matches. Football Life's own injuries come from your save, and Prologue cannot stop those — it reads and tells them whatever you choose here.

5. What it changes in your game

Almost everything Prologue does is reading. It never edits your save file.

Training, sponsor and honour boosts	Small attribute increases written to your player in the running game, with strict checks: only your own player, never more than ±3 at a time, read back afterwards. The game then saves them with your career. They can be switched off with GAME WRITES on the Media page.
OVR	Read from the running game when you press READ OVR FROM THE GAME. Only read.
Your Sider setup	Unchanged: no scripts, no `sider.ini` edits.

6. If something goes wrong

Prologue says it cannot find my Sider folder

Run PrologueSetup.exe again and point it at the folder with sider.exe; it writes a small prologue-content.txt beside the program that tells it where to look.

My latest match is not showing

Save in Football Life, then press REFRESH. Prologue can only see what the game has saved.

Boosts say they are waiting

They are written while Football Life is running. Start the game, load your career, and leave Prologue open; they go through within a few seconds. If Windows asked to run Prologue as administrator and you said No, close it and open it again, choosing Yes.

Pages are slow the first time I open them

Prologue builds pages in the background while you are reading, so after a moment every page opens instantly. The first visit to a page straight after a save can take a second or two.

7. Updating

Download new versions only from askandalus.com/downloads — copies uploaded elsewhere are not the author's. Run the new PrologueSetup.exe over the old install: it replaces the program and keeps every career exactly as it is.

8. Removing Prologue

Delete the PrologueCompanion folder from your Sider folder. Your careers are in content\prologue; delete that too if you do not want to keep them. Nothing else was changed.
